Each week the Custom Fishing Staff Picks one topic. We start it off but the Custom Family keeps it going. Comment on the topic below. This Knowledge base is for you by you.

Saltwater

It's Striped Bass time in New England and one of our favorite times of the year. Great battles, real struggles and a lot of fun.

1. 10 foot surf casting pole
2. 25 lb braided line
3. A white with red for contrast slow sinking popper
4. 2 feet of Mono or braid and a paper clip
5. Direct tie the braided line to the popper
6. Tie one side to the base of the last hook on the popper
7. On the other side tie the paper clip
8. Cast!

What this does is creates a pre-strike or a chaser bait that will further entice the Striper to bite the popper!

Freshwater

Pan fishing on light tackle is a blast. The Custom Staff loves nothing more than a good fish fry with friends, family and of course beer. To catch all those pan fish we use a very basic but very efficient rig.

1. 6 lb test on a light tackle pole
2. Small fixed placement bobber (usually 1-2 feet above the hook)
3. One 3/0 split shot weight fixed directly below the bobber
4. Aprox 1 foot below the bobber a size 20 snap swivel
5. Snap a two way Eagle Claw spinner with nickle blades (size of hook varies based on pan fish in your area)
6. 1 live meal worm or trout worm based on the days bite

Post your homemade rigs below. Please Start off the post identifying if the rig is for Saltwater or Freshwater!
